I have to admit, I have been Podcasting and using Audacity for quite some time. I find that there are so many uses, above and beyond even Podcasting for Audacity. I have had students use it for an assignment or project, I have had students use it AS an assignment or project and I have used it for myself for communicating with parents, students and/or staff.
When using Audacity for this assignment, I tried something different. I am using kidblogs with my students, something which I will blog about in a later assignment. I saw that I could add an audio file to a blog post. So I used Audacity and tried it out. Sure enough, it worked. The post now was done in audio form rather than written out.
As far as other ideas for using Audacity, I have to say that the one that I would find most beneficial would have to be having students record their notes using Audacity, essentially turning the notes into a Podcast, then downloading the finished product to an iPod or MP-3 player to be used to study with. I know I did that when I was younger, but it was on a plain old cassette. My gosh, how times have changed.

Thanks for listing soooo many uses for Audacity. I am looking forward to your blog on kidblog, I think it is a very useful application for educators and students.
ReplyDeleteBy using audio files, you are applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) for your students...multiple means of representation, expression and engagement!
Fantastic job!!!
